The EU4M Alumni Club Annual Meeting is the association’s official yearly general assembly and one of the most important events in our community’s calendar. It brings together students, alumni, staff members, and the Alumni Club Board from across the EU4M network. This year's annual meeting was held at University of Oviedo (UniOvi), Gijón from 2 - 4 September 2026.

Day 1

We kickstarted with a casual Alumni Welcoming Meet-up held over tapas and drinks at Cimadevilla, overseeing Gijón's beautiful coastline port. All current students, alumni, and staff were invited to reconnect, exchange experiences, and strengthen the ties between different cohorts and partner universities.

We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the students for organising the venue for the welcome meet-up. Our thanks also go to the Alumni Club Board, in particular to Tina, for attending in person and supporting the event.

Day 2

The second day, held in the UniOvi auditorium, featured engaging discussions on recent developments within the EU4M community, alongside updates on current and future Alumni Club activities.

It was an honour to welcome Andrés Sosa and Karen Koh, one of our earliest alumni cohort. Hearing about their journey during and after EU4M studies was truly inspiring, and it was wonderful to see their continued dedication to the Alumni Club.

The morning concluded with a guided tour of the UniOvi laboratories and classrooms, led by current EU4M students who showcased impressive projects developed during their recent semesters.

The evening was scheduled for a guided tour of the Universidad Laboral de Gijón, offering a glimpse into the region's rich cultural heritage and stunning architecture. A highlight was a kitchen scavenger hunt organized by the guide as students teamed up to solve clues and puzzles to recreate a recipe for frixuelos (traditional Asturian crepes) in the building's historic, mid-20th-century kitchens.

Day 3

The final day of the EU4M Annual Meeting was all about exploring the city, celebrating our community, and reflecting on a successful gathering. We spent the day to take in the local sights with a guided walking tour through the beautiful streets of Gijón, getting a true feel for the coastal city's charm and maritime history.

The evening ended with everyone dressed up and gathered for the long awaited Gala Dinner. It was the perfect grand finale to our time in Spain; sharing great food, exchanging final stories, and toasting to the friendships that make the EU4M network so special.

Most importantly, we took a moment to honour the stars of the night: Moritz Rank, Meron Woldeselassie and Denny Pérez Borrero, whom just completed their master's degrees and officially took their place as the newest members of the EU4M Alumni Club.

Events like this are made possible by the commitment of volunteers who keep our community connected long after graduation. The EU4M Alumni Club is proud to offer a platform where students, graduates, and staff can collaborate and continue building the international friendships and professional network that make EU4M unique.

We look forward to the next Annual Meeting in Karlsruhe on September 2027.

Once EU4M, always EU4M.
