Engineering a Greener Future: A Student Reflection on LCA 🍃

One of the greatest strengths of the EU4M community is the knowledge shared between our graduation years. Recently, our 2025–2027 master’s cohort wrapped up an intensive Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) course, culminating in a series of impressive final product sustainability presentations.

We want to extend a massive thank you to our alumnus, Nicolás Ramírez Ortiz, who spearheaded this initiative in collaboration with the INGENIUM European University Alliance. Beyond providing lessons to the program, Nicolás brought in industry experts to give our current students a first hand look at how LCA methodologies are applied in real-world engineering sectors today.

For the current EU4M batch, the course was an eye-opening deep dive. As future mechatronics engineers, learning how to quantify carbon footprints and navigate the European environmental framework isn't just an academic exercise, it is a vital toolkit for responsible, forward-thinking innovation.
